What is the National Society of Colonial Dames of America?
The NSCDA is an organization of women which actively promotes our national heritage through historic preservation, patriotic service and educational projects. Founded in 1891, there are over 15,200 members in 43 state societies. We share a passion for historic preservation and through our museum properties; patriotic and educational programs provide outreach to our local communities. More than 70 historic properties throughout the country are owned, managed by or associated with our various state societies. (www.nscda.org)
Meet the New York Society
The New York Society is a group of multi-generational, dynamic, engaged and fun loving women who share a strong interest in history, education, patriotic service and genealogy. We are actively involved in maintaining our two historic houses, generating contemporary historical interpretation and supporting and educating our community about the Colonial Period. In addition, we enjoy the benefits of a national organization, the NSCDA, that includes forty-three welcoming State Societies.
Our members are also committed to furthering our mission; promoting our national heritage through historic preservation, patriotic service and educational projects.
How To Join
Membership in the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York is by invitation and sponsorship of current members. Candidates are proposed by two current members, who submit an application on the candidate's behalf and assist them through the membership process.
As a result, we do not accept self-nominations or direct applications for membership. Individuals who believe they may be eligible are encouraged to connect with a current member of the Society, who can provide guidance regarding sponsorship and the application process.
