Marisol Deluna Silk Scarves

The New York Society’s silk scarf was designed by Marisol Deluna based on the beautiful Chinese Export wallpaper in the Queen Anne Room at the Headquarters House on 71st Street.  Chinese wallpapers were particularly popular between the middle of the eighteenth and the middle of the nineteenth centuries with many great houses incorporating a Chinese-style room, usually a drawing room or bedroom. These papers were imported from Canton as ‘private trade’ by captains of East India Company ships. Hand-painted and/or printed in ink and distemper-like colors, they were produced solely for export and were not used in China.

The New York scarf is available in two colorways:  blue which draws inspiration from the Famille Vert palatte of the original 18th century wallpaper; and black which adapts the characteristic birds, branches and flowers of the paper into an updated design.  Both scarves are printed on silk twill and measure 36” square.

$65 per scarf; $45 per scarf for three or more. Please contact the office at 212-744-3572 for orders larger than six scarves or to pay by phone.
