Gifts & Donations

The National Society of The Colonial Dames in the State of New York is steadfast to ensuring that all gifts made by members and others are invested appropriately and wisely. Trust that gifts that are given for specific purposes are designated as requested. We appreciate every gift how are or small. Please know that your donations are tantamount to supporting our missions. At this time the NSCDNY we are  not able to accept gifts in kind.

Annual Appeal Fund

A tax-deductible contribution of any amount provides vital income to the general operation of NSCD Headquarters and Van Cortland House Museum, operated by NSCDNY. Your Annual Appeal Fund gift (and all other gifts) may be made in memory or in honor of someone special.

Memorial and Honor Gifts

Gifts in memory or in honor of someone special provide a tribute to the person you choose to recognize and at the same time help NSCDNY fulfill our missions.

Matching Gifts

A list of Companies with Matching Gift Programs can be obtained from the Society Administrator.

Gifts in Kind

If you are interested in donating items and services might be appropriate as gift in kind donations, please contact the NSCDNY President or Treasurer for further details.  They will put you in contact with the appropriate Chairwoman.

Corporate Support

Examples of giving in this way include underwriting events or educational programs. NSCDNY is interested in partnering with your corporation or your business and pleased to recognize corporate grants and other financial support.

Planned Giving

Planned Giving provides a Dame an opportunity to leave money or assets to NSCDNY at her death. These gifts can include bequests made through wills or trusts, as well as qualified retirement plans and life insurance.  Please contact the NSDCNY Treasurer for further details.

Gifts of Stock

Your broker can assist you in making a gift of stock via a direct wire transfer to NSCDNY. Giving a gift of publicly traded stock that has increased in value and that you have owned for more than one year may provide greater tax benefits than giving cash. Your charitable income tax deduction is equal to the fair market value of the stock and you avoid paying the capital gains on any increase in the current value over the original cost of the stock. You may also save by not incurring brokerage fees because you are transferring ownership rather than selling the stock.

Please contact the NSCDNY Treasurer to obtain the correct stock transfer information and assure that the gift is properly acknowledged.

Our IRS Form 990 is available at Guidestar, or copies may be requested by contacting NSCDNY Treasurer or President or Society Administrator.
